About Mike Bailey
Michael V. (Mike) Bailey is a lifelong Fremont County resident, business owner, and public servant with deep roots in the Riverton community.
The Bailey and Bath families moved to Fremont County in the early 1940s, establishing farms west of Riverton as part of the newly opened irrigation projects. Mike’s parents, Jannet Bath and Ron Bailey, met while attending Riverton High School. After serving in the United States Air Force, Ron and Jannet returned to Riverton in 1960 and leased a two-bay service station on Main Street next to the Post Office. In 1965, Ron purchased a facility on South Federal Boulevard, which became the home of Bailey Enterprises, Inc. in 1967.
Mike began working in the family business at the age of 12 as a full-service island attendant and has worked full-time since 1976. After gaining experience in nearly every position within the company, he became President and CEO of Bailey Enterprises in 2002 following his father’s retirement.
A hands-on business owner, Mike remains involved in all aspects of the operation. He holds a Class A Commercial Driver’s License with HazMat, tanker, dual/triple, and air brake endorsements and regularly works alongside his employees throughout the company.
Mike graduated from Riverton High School in 1978 and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Business Management from Central Wyoming College in 1980. He is also a founding member and board member of Kairos Communications LLC and Genuine Meats LLC.
In November 2014, Mike was elected to represent Ward 3 on the Riverton City Council. He was sworn into office on January 6, 2015, and was reelected in 2018 and 2022. Since 2017, he has served as City Council President. Mike also serves as Fremont County Republican Ward 3 Precinct Committeeman and was elected to the Board of the Wyoming Local Government Liability Pool in February 2023.
Community involvement has always been important to Mike. He currently serves as Vice President and member of the Riverton Rotary Club and is a founding member and board member of the Riverton Boys & Girls Club and the Riverton Economic Development Association. He also helped establish the Riverton Police Foundation.
Within his industry, Mike served as Chairman of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America (now the Energy Marketers of America) in 2016 and previously served as Vice Chairman, Western Regional Chairman, and a member of its Board of Directors. He currently serves on the Wyoming Petroleum Marketers Board of Trustees and is on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Wyoming Petroleum Marketers Association. He is also a founding member of the Wyoming Petroleum Marketers PAC.
Mike has also served on the Wyoming Trucking Association Board and Council of Safety Supervisors, the Sinclair Oil Corporation Executive Distributor Council, and the Pinnacle Corporation Fuel Advisory Board.
He has represented fuel retailers and distributors at the Pacific Region Fuel Tax Administrators Conference and has worked with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality’s Storage Tank Program on operator training regulations and testing programs. He has also assisted with regulatory revisions and the development of ICC test questions.
Throughout his career, Mike has remained active in local, state, and federal legislative issues, working with elected officials and participating in legislative panels and committees. He has attended several Energy Marketers of America Washington “Day on the Hill” events and continues to support the EMA SBC/PAC.
Mike and his wife, June (Osborne) Bailey, are lifelong Fremont County residents and live in Riverton. Together, they enjoy camping, hunting, fishing, and traveling throughout Wyoming. They have nine children, fourteen grandchildren, and recently welcomed their first great-grandchild.
